Baltazar Solano Rodriguez

UKERC Researcher

Baltazar is a Research Associate in energy system modelling at the UCL Energy Institute. He is currently developing a TIMES integrated assessment model for the European Union. Prior to joining UCL he worked for AEA, where he was responsible for the delivery of technical consulting support across the organisation to assigned projects that involved the use of advanced analytic techniques, mainly on UK Government and EU energy and climate change programmes. One of his roles was as lead modeller for the UK's Market Transformation Programme.

Previously, Baltazar worked for the UK’s National Nuclear Laboratory as Technical Advisor for the Strategic and Operational Analysis Team. This position involved a wide range of modelling and analytical tasks undertaken mostly for nuclear waste reprocessing plants.

Baltazar joined the NNL after pursuing academic qualifications in the UK gaining an MSc in Operational Research from the University of Edinburgh and an MPhil in Manufacturing, Industrial Systems and Management from the University of Cambridge. Previously, he worked in the Oil&Gas industry for Schlumberger as a Senior Field Engineer in different worldwide locations. In this role Baltazar worked in operational analysis and management.
