Ilkka Keppo

Ilkka Keppo works as a Senior Lecturer at the UCL Energy Institute. Before joining UCL, he was a researcher at ECN policy studies, the Netherlands, and before that a research scholar at the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Austria. From 1999 to 2004, he was employed at the Helsinki University of Technology, where he also received his MSc and DSc degrees (in 1999 and 2009, respectively).

Dr. Keppo specializes in the use and development of energy models and has previously used such models for a number studies, ranging from techno-economic analyses of small energy systems to studies of global issues, such as climate change mitigation. A cross cutting theme of his current research interests involves the assessment, description and modelling of uncertainty, from issues related to local, short term scales to ones involving the global, long term energy-economy-environment system.
