Dr Matthew Aylott is Senior Energy Policy Advisor to consumer group Which? He was previously Policy Engagement Manager at UK Energy Research Centre (2013-2015) with responsibility for public affairs and media engagement. He managed UKERC's Policy Network; coordinating responses to government consultations, writing policy briefings and bulletins, organising policy-focused events and participating in All Party Parliamentary Groups and Committees.

Before joining the UKERC worked for the National Non-Food Crops Centre (NNFCC) in York for three years, conducting research on bioenergy. Matthew has authored a number of major industry and government-funded reports on bioenergy, carbon capture and storage and the impacts of climate change on energy infrastructure. He also regularly contributes to major publications, such as BusinessGreen, The Ecologist and The Guardian.

Matthew completed a PhD at the University of Southampton in 2010, which assessed the role of bioenergy crops in meeting the UK’s renewable energy targets.
