20 to 200GW in 10 years: Development challenges facing offshore wind
6:00 PM - 9:00 PM, 27 February 2020

WeBridge is kicking off 2020 with an event focusing on the decade ahead in offshore wind, specifically the potential supply constraints that are on the horizon and the collective impacts these could start to have on the sector. Constraints could vary from planning legislation to jack-up vessels, technology availability through to blue collar technicians to ensure operational availability post-Commercial Operations Date (COD).
We will explore these impacts with a panel dedicated to offshore wind, speakers will contribute from legal, development, project execution and finance perspectives. Other constraints will include talent (diversity), construction bottlenecks and the impacts this could have potentially on financing risk and operational impact and delay.
Locally, this ties well into the UK Sector Deal and the 40GW target. We are keen to also look more broadly across Europe and the competition arising from the emerging markets in Asia and the USA. Discussion could also include the size and scale of the proposed projects, which is at O & G level in terms of CAPEX. Future OWF’s now are large scale offshore infrastructure projects. Will this start to open up broader demand for Oil & Gas talent that we previously haven’t seen?
