Meeting the UK’s Energy Demand Challenge - CREDS launch

2:00 PM - 6:00 PM, 20 September 2018
Centre for Research on Energy Demand Solutions (CREDS) , Central Hall Westminster Storey's Gate London SW1H 9NH , United Kingdom

Energy demand is about the consumption rather than the supply of energy. This event will explore how we can change demand to meet our low carbon and energy efficiency objectives.

A new UK Centre for Research on Energy Demand Solutions (CREDS) will officially launch at this event.

“The goals of a secure, affordable, low carbon energy system are only achievable if energy demand is reduced, decarbonised and made more flexible. Understanding how these changes can happen is a major inter-disciplinary research challenge.”

(Professor Nick Eyre, Director of the new Centre).

The new Centre builds on research undertaken by the End Use Energy Demand Centres (EUED) - a series of projects that explored new ways to manage energy demand. At this event EUED findings will be shared, providing the context for the work of CREDS. They will be looking at the way we use energy in the UK and what approaches can be applied to transform the future energy demand.

The Centre is funded with £19.5 million from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC).

Join the event to hear about the work already done and what is planned over the next five years to achieve their ambitious goals.

A more detailed programme will be sent out nearer the time to those who have registered.
