Fairness and Flexibility: towards an equitable energy future

10:00 AM - 3:30 PM, 19 March 2018
Loughborough School of Business and Economics & Centre for Renewable Energy Systems Technology , Loughborough University London,E15 2GZ, United Kingdom

EnTraNTS/FlexiNET brings together a network of stakeholders with a shared vision of exploring non-traditional energy services and innovative transactions (EnTraNTS) and their potential for improving the welfare and wellbeing of fuel poor and vulnerable consumers in a flexible, low-carbon energy system (FlexiNET).

Innovative services and transactions. Can they deliver fairness?

This session will explore the future of the energy system. From the provision of energy as a service (e.g., comfort, illumination) to the vast array of energy-related services currently breaking through the market and changing the landscape of consumers’ preferences as we know it. We are very pleased to welcome distinguished representatives of the energy sector to help shed light on the needs of, and challenges faced by, stakeholders seeking to create a system of services and transactions that can deliver fairness to the consumers of the future.

Technological and consumer focused solutions. The role of flexibility?

In a two part interactive session we will be joined by Dr. Rose Chard (Consumer Insights Specialist, Catapult Energy Systems) to investigate the potential solutions to one of the most complex issues in the UK energy system – residential heat decarbonisation. Together we will formulate a core set of solutions and test their mettle using an innovative online tool: ‘Beta Fuel Poverty’ (created collaboratively by stakeholders, for stakeholders, interested in evaluating concepts and interventions aimed at tackling fuel poverty).

East London Energy – Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park

Join us after the conference to learn more from Ben Watts (ENGIE) about the district energy scheme – the largest to be built in the UK – that will be keeping us (and the residents of Queen Elizabeth Park) warm, cool and connected throughout the day!
