World Sustainable Development Summit 2020

The World Sustainable Development Summit (WSDS) is TERI’s flagship event - a platform to showcase to the world, India’s plans, policies and priorities on sustainability by identifying the most topical issues, pertaining to the environment and sustainability.
The WSDS is a glorious reiteration of the erstwhile Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS) that continues the Summit Series’ decades-long run in bolstering India’s claim to international climate politics leadership, cementing her place among the most responsible environmental stewards.
With the aim of widening the scope and outreach of the WSDS, a series of pre-events in the form of international dialogues are held prior to the Summit. The discussions held during the international dialogues are brought forward to the main Summit stage where they are further matured and discussed in-depth by experts and practitioners from relevant fields.
Past international dialogues have been held in:
- New York, USA (2018): ‘Energy transitions: Reconciling Competing Imperatives of Development and Environment Sustainability’ in association with ETC India
- Kazakhstan (2017): The Role of Green Accounting and Carbon Finance
- Suva, Fiji (2017): Furthering the FIPIC Agenda through Sustainability Initiatives

The discussions held during the regional dialogues are brought forward to the main Summit stage where they are further matured and discussed in-depth by experts and practitioners from relevant fields.

The Corporate Conclave is an exclusive platform for corporates, held as part of the Summit. It is designed to bring together business leaders from across the globe to discuss effective strategies, promote efficient practises and make a business case for sustainable solutions. As one may note the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focus on achieving high standards of living by aiming to reduce widespread poverty and hunger in the world by promoting sustainability and development and protecting the environment through the usage of renewable sources of energy. The Goals can be realised only when governed by the spirit of effective partnerships that make the right choices to improve collective lives. Radical ideas, ground-breaking innovations and new (greener) business models will all be required if we are to repair the damage done to our air, replenish our oceans and stop global warming in its tracks.
The Conclave with the presence of major corporates, along with international and national ministerial presence, will help expound further on how businesses can be made profitable provided they remain responsible as well. The Corporate Conclave is usually designed in the form of a panel discussion followed by a Q&A round and a voting session. The duration of the Conclave is 2 hours.
One feature of the Summit which will exclusively offer a space for experts to showcase their newest technologies will be the 'Greenovation 2020' Exhibition to be held during the three days of the Summit.
The Exhibition will seek to attract domain experts making it a single meeting point for stakeholders of the renewable energy sector with a diverse exhibit of concepts and designs, promoting innovations and technologies for a sustainable tomorrow. The Exhibition will promote the display of:

All registered participants and guests of the Summit are welcomed to attend the plenary sessions spread over two days of the Summit.What themes will be discussed during the plenary sessions?
The plenary sessions witness engaging discussions on themes related to the Summit’s broader theme. The plenaries provide a platform for discussions that are goal oriented and steered towards providing pragmatic solutions to existing energy and environmental problems.What is the format of plenary sessions?
The sessions are usually designed as panels comprising not more than six panellists and one moderator. Each plenary session is hour long and incorporates a question and answer round and an engaging voting session.
Thematic Tracks, held as part of the Summit are designed as parallel break away sessions which allow for discussions of considerable depth on niche topics. The tracks are held parallel on themes which are in sync with the overall Summit theme. The thematic track discussions are led by experts and key practitioners from respective thematic fields.What is the format of a thematic track?
The format is dynamic; styles which have allowed for active participation from members of the audience in the past include round table style or panels followed by a question and answer round.Can external organisations co- host exclusive thematic tracks during the Summit?
Yes, we welcome external organisations to co- host thematic tracks as part of the Summit on themes which are in sync with the Summit’s broad theme.How can external organisations co- host a thematic track during the Summit?

Please specify in the email, your topic of interest and the number of participants that will attend the thematic track.
The theme of the track is mutually decided by TERI and the co-host organisation. Concept notes of 800-1000 words on selected theme; inclusive of 4-5 questions are mutually developed with the help of in-house TERI experts and the co-host organisation.What is the cost of co-hosting a thematic track during the Summit?

All logistics, namely, booking of venue, set-up, audio-visual equipment, photography, video recording, F&B services, backdrop, name plates and agendas are taken care of by TERI’s in-house team; this excludes the travel-boarding-lodging of the speakers.
Speakers/ panellists are mutually identified by TERI and the co- host organisation and invites are sent by TERI.What is the outreach programme of the thematic track?
The outreach for the thematic track is a combined effort between TERI and the co-host organisation. The organisation is requested to display the Summit banner on its respective website and re-post any thematic track related content that appears on TERI’s social media platforms, on its own.
