Come and write with RGS-IBG Energy Geographies Research Group!

You are invited to attend a Structured Social Writing Retreat

Gladstone’s Library is the UK’s finest residential library, and a unique place for concentrated writing time. Founded in 1889 by the Victorian statesman William Gladstone, it is Britain’s only Prime Ministerial library and one of the few Grade 1 listed buildings in North Wales.

What is a Structured Social Writing Retreat?

They will follow the writing retreat model championed by Rowena Murray (see here), including dedicated time for writing alongside structured breaks. There will also be opportunities to socialise with other academics, including evening meals and walks in the beautiful surrounding fields and pathways. The group will support one another to achieve writing goals, and participants will learn how to implement good writing practices whilst maintaining well-being.

Costs and Logistics

The retreat costs £250 for academic staff and £125 for postgraduate researchers. This includes accommodation at the Library, breakfasts, lunches, refreshments and evening meals. The retreat is limited to 15 places. To secure a place, please email Neil Simcock (n.d.simcock@ljmu.ac.uk). A non-refundable deposit of £75 will be required on acceptance, and full payment by 17th May 2019. Sort Code: 08-92-99, Account Number: 65491227.
