This project will synthesise the others and develop the implications for public policy and governance. The early stages will focus on the relationship between governance structures and the roles of highly distributed market actors. This will help prepare for planned assement of future market regulation, and will complement research on wholesale markets and networks in the Energy Systems at Multiple Scales programme. Although debates focus strongly on energy retail prices, there has been little attention to the distinctive GB governance arrangements for energy retail markets. This work will focus on the implications of more complex electricity systems for tariffs, market structure and price regulation and will compare the GB market with other jurisdictions with similar ambitions, e.g. Germany and California.
