Energy models regularly underpin the evidence provided to support decision makers in understanding strategies and trade-offs in the energy transition.

However energy modellers – in academia, government and consulting – have often struggled to meet transparency standards, as well as verifiability and replicability criteria.

The Hub will meet this challenge, by curating a comprehensive set of energy models, made available via the UKERC site; these will be open description, source and access, helping to support policy makers in understanding strategies and trade-offs. The Modelling Hub will have a further set of mechanisms to support transparent and replicable modelling; including a review of UK energy scenarios, development of a quality assurance protocol, and participatory engagement with key stakeholders.
