Sustainable Energy UK: Meeting the science and engineering challenge

13th and 14th May 2008, St Anne’s College, Oxford

Overwhelming support was expressed at the Supergen Workshop, held in Oxford last year, for a conference that would focus on the science and engineering underpinning sustainable energy research. This conference, to be held in May this year in Oxford, will bring together academics carrying out research funded by the Research Councils’ Energy Programme. The conference will provide: a forum to share research findings; networking opportunities; and suggestions for the future (e.g. ways of working; research requirements and directions). A key aim of the conference is to share the fundamental scientific outcomes of energy research funded by the Research Councils. The programme will include a keynote address from Bob Watson, Chief Scientific Adviser at DEFRA and former Chairman of IPCC. Dr David Clarke, the Chief Executive of the Energy Technologies Institute, will be presenting an update on ETI’s progress and the development of the UK energy research landscape.
