UKERC takes a co-ordinated and collaborative approach to national and international energy research. Part of its remit is to operate a National Energy Research Network (NERN) to provide a framework for communication and interaction between those actively involved in performing, using, or funding energy research. NERN aims to engage and support the stakeholder community, and add value to existing specialist networks.
The person appointed will:
- Work with the UKERC Knowledge Exchange Manager and the Energy Generation and Supply Knowledge Transfer Network (EGS KTN) Management Team to implement and refine an effective and measureable strategy for engaging the EGS KTN community.
- Share responsibility for delivery of NERN activities with the UKERC Knowledge Exchange Manager.
- Be responsible for the coordination of UK contributions to various international initiatives, principally the European Energy Research Alliance, a key element of the European Commission Strategic Energy Technology Plan and the BIS Focal Point for UK-China on Energy, which is developing a sustainable framework for collaborative innovation.
The successful applicant will be an excellent communicator with a first degree (or equivalent) and either a PhD (or equivalent) in a field directly relevant to energy or equivalent training giving a strong appreciation of science and technology issues. Candidates with equivalent work experience will also be considered.
The role is full-time until 31 March 2014 with the possibility of extension.
