Dr. Gabrial Anandarajah

Dr. Gabrial Anandarajah is a Senior Research Associate at the UCL Energy Institute.  Gabrial has worked in the Energy System Modelling theme since UKERC Phase I.  He is involved in UK MARKAL modelling work identifying long-term energy, technology and policy options for climate change mitigation. He is currently leading the TIMES global model development for UKERC Phase II and developing different UK MARKAL scenarios for three other projects (UKSHEC, UKSHEC+ and SUPERGEN bio-energy projects). Gabrial also developed a two regional UK MARKAL model for UKSHEC+ project.


Prior to Joining UCL, Gabrial worked in King’s College London (KCL) and the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT, Thailand). He gained his PhD from University College Dublin (UCD), a Masters degree from AIT in the field of Energy Economics and Planning, and Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Peradeniya (Sri Lanka). He has over seven years research experience in energy, environment and climate change modelling for UK and for Asian developing countries.
