Are you concerned about advancing our understanding of the energy system and meeting our strategic energy goals? Do you have a particular research idea or a problem that would benefit from knowledge exchange and development, and collaboration with other disciplines and/or sectors? Can you anticipate tangible outputs from your activities, such as a well defined research agenda, network building, policy recommendations, a special issue in a journal or a book? If you answer yes to all these questions, the UKERC Meeting Place would like to hear from you!

The UK Energy Research Centre’s Meeting Place is a unique support mechanism available to the UK energy research community and its stakeholders. We are now inviting short proposals from you - for seminars, workshops, conferences, debates, research-related collaboration activities or new activities which are additional to those currently funded. As well as events engaging with UK energy matters, we encourage proposals that foster collaboration between UK and overseas researchers. Events with an interdisciplinary flavour will have priority, but we can support events across the energy domain. In exchange for your ideas and commitment to steering your proposal into a workable format with tangible outputs, the Meeting Place provides financial support to host your event (venue, accommodation, catering) and a professional package including logistical support, facilitation and reporting. Yes, that’s right – we’ll pay for it, and help organise it!

Some of the events we’ve successfully hosted in the past include: a workshop on agent-based modelling and its application to energy policy, an international workshop on managing residential electricity demand, and several international technology workshops which have contributed to the development of research roadmaps for bio-energy, photovoltaics, carbon capture and storage and marine renewable energy.
