Strategic longer and larger grants (sLoLaS)

Intention to submit deadline: 1 September 2011, 4pm
Full proposal deadline: January 2012 (date TBC)

The sLoLa grants call is held annually. The following changes have been made for 2011:

• The outline stage has been replaced with an Intention to Submit process
• Proposals are welcome in all areas of strategic relevance to BBSRC. See below for further details

• For 2011, applications are particularly encouraged in the following specific areas within the overall Knowledge Based Bio-economy (KBBE) strategic theme:

  It is anticipated that at least 50% of the available funding will be awarded to proposals falling in this theme. In addition, up to 15 studentships will be available as separate awards for successful sLoLaS in this theme.

  • Industrial biotechnology
  • Bioenergy
  • Synthetic biology for white biotechnology
  • Metagenomics for natural product discovery
